With all of the woodwork going on in this home, you may want to balance it out with a cool paint color palette. Think in terms of very dark or very light colors that either contrast or complement the wood tones. Expert tips on career, money, and navigating how to become an interior designer.

Cape Cod Style House (Design Guide)

Many of these homes are bungalow-style and are known for their natural materials, cozy interiors, and wide porches. They're trendy in California and the Midwest and appeal primarily to those who love vintage homes. The city has a sense of history, with styles spanning Spanish Colonial to Mission Revival, Beaux-Arts to Art Deco, Hollywood Regency to streamline 1930s modern. The desire to preserve those design styles is strong, as is the need to make homes liveable for today.

Modern Craftsman Style House: An Interior Renovation Guide

Mollie Ranize, founder of Dmar Interiors, a design firm based in Los Angeles, is known for her California Modern style. She approaches each project with her 3-T Rule, keeping things Tasteful, Tailored and Timeless. She was delighted to be involved with the interior design for this 1915-built Craftsman-style home in LA's Hancock Park neighborhood. “I try to keep them out, but they love it; they’re in there all the time,” says Cassidy Elliott of the formal living room. To baby-proof it while still being design-forward, the couple replaced their coffee table with a soft-sided and custom-made pouf with vintage kilim fabric.

Paired with a matching ottoman, it’s bound to be an elegantly comfortable presence in any Craftsman styled living room. The simplistic, sharp wood panels create a warm complementary tone with the stressed and comfortable leather, conveying that back-to-basics Craftsman style in a big, comfortable living room seating staple. We chose a pair of tables with the same rough structure to highlight just how important the tone and grain of the wood are in a piece of highly visible furniture.

This Craftsman-Style rustic house has a main central section with floor-to-ceiling windows that are provided with a lovely view of the outdoor hearth and landscape. There is a large dormer window at one side of this main section while the other side has a small balcony overlooking the jacuzzi. Contemporary Craftsman homes often feature double doors, which effortlessly marry rustic charm with modern, clean lines and a contemporary color palette.

The wood portion of the desk features a set of discreet drawers, perfect for a little bit of storage when you need it most. The light natural wood tone lends itself to rustic spaces, or as a counterpoint to more modern rooms. The Craftsman design allows for unique and useful features like the lift-and-hide panel that reveals a pull-out surface.

Formal Craftsman-Style living room offers cozy seats over a hardwood flooring along with a modern red brick fireplace. Charming pendants hung from a wood vaulted ceiling over the small craftsman living room. It has a wood-burning fireplace and wooden sofa set that sits over a vintage rug. This is a cozy and intimate living room with a carpeted flooring that matches the earthy beige walls above the wainscoting. This is then contrasted by the sofa set and black coffee table across from the fireplace.

For vintage craftsman vibes, add mission-style stools to your bar top or Stickley’s shaped seat stools. Your backsplash can be crafted of handmade white ceramic tiles with slim floral border tiles. These florals aren’t the curvy elaborate motifs of the Victorian era — instead, they are an angular, geometric style that keeps with the rest of the home. 'We were allowed to go very bold with the Furada jungle vibe wallpaper, from Rebel Walls, which is another showstopper. The owners bought the house as their first family home, with a baby on the way, so creating a stylish nursery was one of the most important parts of their brief to the design team. Karen began her career as a sub editor at Hi-Fi News and Record Review magazine. Her move to women’s magazines came soon after, in the shape of Living magazine, which covered cookery, fashion, beauty, homes and gardening. From Living Karen moved to Ideal Home magazine, where as deputy chief sub, then chief sub, she started to really take an interest in properties, architecture, interior design and gardening. Credit where credit's due, those charming original near-floor-to-ceiling windows also play their part in perfecting the aesthetic of this space. The firm's founder and lead designer Mollie Ranize and interior designers Kim Serani and Maria Aramburu, specialize in creating highly livable California Modern interiors for homes across Southern California. Listening to the owners' hopes for the new look, and using the property's architecture as their guide, Ranize and her team set about creating the home's stunning interiors.

Take the tour to discover how the designers achieved the perfect balance between California Modern and this little piece of Californian history. Call it a meeting of the minds—eccentric, design-obsessed, and slightly demented minds. The story begins at a Los Angeles gym, where entrepreneur Yoram Heller and architect Andre Herrero struck up what can only be described as a bromance. Heller had been working on his 1907 Craftsman house in Angelino Heights, renovating it room by room, for a couple of years. Realizing he needed assistance in turning his madcap plans into reality, he invited Herrero to work, at least initially, on the primary bathroom.

Craftsman homes may have first gained popularity on the West Coast at the beginning of the 20th century, but today the thoughtful style is popular throughout the United States. That’s understandable, considering that the aesthetic’s emphasis on detailed millwork, picture windows, and fireplaces continues to feel impressive yet cozy. Below, we’ve chosen a series of our favorite Craftsman homes to be featured by AD.

Enlightening this theory, they are mostly embellished in earthy, natural tones like shades of greens, browns, tans, and taupe. If you have a craftsman-style house and you want to achieve a modern design for it, there are so many ways to make it happen. From mixing materials for a layered look to accentuating the architecture, our designers can help you visualize the home of your dreams. Cultivating a cozy aesthetic doesn’t mean you have to use warm and earthy paint colors — sometimes it’s all in the design style. In particular, the use of a neutral palette makes the natural brick stand out. There is also an interesting American term, “Honesty of design” – this is what is said about the styles that people use to create cozy and comfortable houses for a living, not for show.

25 Interior Design Styles You Should Know Design Styles 2024

interior design reddit

Tristan admits his home does not look like most of the spaces on the subreddit, but maintains that he’s absorbed an understanding of design he wouldn’t have had otherwise. Among the tens of thousands of subreddits on the megapopular forum, there are over 500 in the “art and design” category. (Within this genre, AmateurRoomPorn was one of the top 35 most viewed in the month of April.) What each has in common is user-generated content, which provides a unique and personal way for curious eyes to access design tips and tricks. In DesignMyRoom, users post photos of their spaces and ask for guidance—often showing off the finished result when they’re suitably house-proud.

Subreddit Rules

When you're new, you may not know what goes with what. By first taking a look at some design styles, you can start to get an idea of what you like and what appeals to you. It can also give you something to google search when you're looking for reference and ideas. Hey at the end of the day it's your space, so you fill it however you want. Plenty of incredibly successful spaces incorporate multiple design styles and they all work together.

Give Yourself Time to Get Used to New Pieces

interior design reddit

When you start decorating a space, there are a lot of different "starting" points. Maybe your apartment is full of "college" furniture that is whatever you could find, for as cheap as you could get it and now you're ready to start a real "grown up" space. Maybe you've bought your first house after living in a shoebox and have many completely empty vacant rooms that need filling. Maybe you are tired of everything you have and you want to start fresh but this time with a real vision instead of whatever you picked up along the way.

Stick to a Simple Wood Stain

Ikea, for its part, is ramping up its exploration of sustainable artificial fibers. Woven, in an effort to “reshape the rug industry,” is also exploring alternative materials for its bespoke floor coverings. “We’ve mixed aloe [fibers] in with wool, and now we’re working with eucalyptus silk—which is another sustainable product—and mixing it with natural wools to create more depth and texture in our rugs,” explains Barr. It's all about unpretentious coziness and lots of texture when it comes to Shabby Chic style. Here, Leanne Ford blends rustic and organic elements with imperfections (wrinkled linens and chipped paint) that make the space more inviting.

Brown (Yes, Brown) Will Be Your Next Statement Color

While her style has evolved over time and covered many genres, her interiors appear to share a common thread of contemporary elegance with rich classical allusions. Jeff Andrews has arguably created the most viewed interiors in all of LA due to his role as designer-on-call to the homes of the Kardashian Clan. He has also designed interiors for Ryan Seacrest, Michael Hall, American Ferrera, and Kaley Cuoco, and is known for pushing the boundaries by using bold concepts and colors while keeping his designs classically rooted, warm, and sophisticated. Jeff has also collaborated with Mansour Modern, Astek Wallcoverings, Jamie Beckwith Collection, and A. Rudin to create products that reflect his bold and distinctive style.

One underrated way to make your space more versatile? Stock up on pieces that can do more than one thing. Statement-making pieces can take a home from simple to striking, but snag too many, and you may overwhelm your space. A hot pink porcelain bowl may not relate to a black metal table - but the rug they are both near is hot pink, black, and white, so they are tied together by this rug.

High-Gloss Walls Are Out; Texture Is In

Thumbs-ups and helpful comments aside, every room posted offers some sort of inspiration to the hundreds of thousands of people who visit each subreddit regularly—and these numbers are growing. In early April, the subreddits in the “art and design” category saw a 20% surge in views, led by home project communities like HomeImprovement, DIY, and Woodworking. This change is surely affected in part by the nationwide shelter-in-place orders, which have many itching to undertake home improvement projects during this unexpected time at home. Max Lin posted the living room of his new apartment on malelivingspace about five months ago.

The most common design mistake she sees homeowners make? Thankfully, you're not alone in your quest to craft a stunning space. There are tons of interior designers who have done what you're trying to do, and many of them are more than happy to give you advice.

Amy Kehoe and Todd Nickey – the two halves of the whole “Nicky Kehoe” – are recognized for their charming, warm, and liveable residential and commercial interior designs. As avid flea market patrons and international travelers, Amy and Todd thoughtfully collect vintage finds from around the world to display in their atelier and incorporate into their projects. Self-described as having an aesthetic “heavy on aspiration and an overall blend of feminine and modern,” the designers rely on juxtaposition to layer materials as well as bespoke and antique furnishings to create utterly unique spaces. Having designed for clients such as Ginnifer Goodwin and Mark Ruffalo, they certainly have attracted a following to their collected yet comfortable interiors.

And more important, once you sharpen your knowledge of interior design styles, you can have fun with it. In the words of award-winning interior designer Nate Berkus, “The best design projects were the ones where people broke all the rules.” Because after all, the most impactful design style is your own. Even some of the best interior design software takes a long time to render concepts, especially when using photorealistic images. It’s a natural price to pay for high-resolution 3D designs.

Beyond stunning aesthetics, these roomplanner apps also offer advantages for designers and real estate professionals in a real-world environment. The best software for interior design can now create an accurate model of your space simply by scanning the room with a camera or phone. Home Designer Suite delivers professional-style interior design software - which makes it powerful but also increases the learning curve.

Bauhaus Movement Overview

german bauhaus design

Only two projects, the apartment building project in Dessau and the Törten row housing fall into the worker housing category. It was the Bauhaus contemporaries Bruno Taut, Hans Poelzig and particularly Ernst May, as the city architects of Berlin, Dresden and Frankfurt respectively, who are rightfully credited with the thousands of socially progressive housing units built in Weimar Germany. The housing Taut built in south-west Berlin during the 1920s, close to the U-Bahn stop Onkel Toms Hütte, is still occupied. The chair frame was initially designed to be bolted together, but it was redesigned in 1950 using stainless steel, allowing it to be formed from one seamless piece of metal. Created in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exposition, the Barcelona Chair was designed by Bauhaus director Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in collaboration with architect Lilly Reich. The Brno Chair, designed by modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe between 1929 and 1930, also exemplifies the Bauhaus principle of reducing objects to their basic elements.

A century after its founding, the German school of art and architecture remains one of the most transcendent — and frustrating — movements of the Modernist age. Emigration and new contexts Following the emigration of the Bauhaus members after 1933, the ideas of the school were carried to many parts of the world where they came into contact with other contexts and concepts of architecture, art, and design. Its name means “house of building,” an inversion of the German word Hausbau (“building of a house”). The Bauhaus was a school of design, architecture, and applied arts that existed in Germany from 1919 to 1933.

Over a century of women in architecture

Bauhaus buildings also respect and reflect the context and character of the site, the culture, and the history of the place. An example of a Bauhaus building that exemplifies sustainable and ecological design is the White City of Tel Aviv, a collection of over 4,000 Bauhaus buildings that were built in the 1930s and 1940s by Jewish architects who fled Nazi Germany. Bauhaus architecture is a modern design style that emerged from the Bauhaus movement in Germany in the early 20th century. The movement was founded by Walter Gropius, who aimed to unify art, craft, and technology in a new building form.

LGBTQIA+ Activism in the Arts

Upon Gropius’s resignation the following year, Meyer became director of the Bauhaus until 1930. He was asked to resign because of his left-wing political views, which brought him into conflict with Dessau authorities. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe became the new director until the Nazi regime forced the school to close in 1933. German-born American artist Josef Albers designed this set of modern accent tables while serving as the artistic director of the furniture workshop at the Bauhaus from 1926 to 1927. Modern industrial techniques also made certain materials more readily available, such as steel, glass, plywood and plastic.

Master’s Houses, Walter Gropius 1926Dessau, GermanyOnly images remain of the private houses built by Gropius as they were all destroyed during the Second World War. The double-houses were built as private residences for the Bauhaus directors and himself, all designed with the school’s design principles. However, the houses were reconstructed in 2014 by German firm Bruno Fioretti Marquez with a contemporary impression. Aspen Institute, Herbert Bayer and Fritz Benedict1949Washington D.C, United StatesIn 1945, Chicago businessman Walter Paepcke contacted Bauhaus artist and architect Herbert Bayer, who had designed and built a Bauhaus-inspired residence near the town of Aspen, in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Its creators believed in bringing artists and craftspeople together for a utopian purpose. A severe but elegant geometric style carried out with great economy of means has been considered characteristic of the Bauhaus, though in fact the works produced were richly diverse. Bauhaus architecture and design principles still influence the shape and look of everyday objects. For example, Steve Jobs openly discussed the influence of Bauhaus simplicity on the aesthetic of Apple products.

In September 2020, President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen introduced the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative during her State of the Union address. The NEB is a creative and interdisciplinary movement that connects the European Green Deal to everyday life. It is a platform for experimentation aiming to unite citizens, experts, businesses and institutions in imagining and designing a sustainable, aesthetic and inclusive future. By eliminating all religious and monarchical symbols typically used in chess, the German designer aimed to redesign the game for a modern age.

Ten of the most iconic pieces of Bauhaus furniture

Bauhaus buildings often have elements of color, typography, and lighting that enhance the aesthetic and functional qualities of the space. Lastly, Bauhaus architects use modern materials and technology to create innovative and experimental buildings. They use steel, glass, concrete, and other industrial materials that offer new possibilities and challenges for architectural design.

Fabrics from the weaving workshop were commercially successful, providing vital and much needed funds to the Bauhaus. The studio’s textiles, along with architectural wall painting, adorned the interiors of Bauhaus buildings, providing polychromatic yet abstract visual interest to these somewhat severe spaces. While the weaving studio was primarily comprised of women, this was in part due to the fact that they were discouraged from participating in other areas. The workshop trained a number of prominent textile artists, including Anni Albers (1899–1994), who continued to create and write about modernist textiles throughout her life. Bauhaus-style design and decor is a term describing the furniture, objects, graphic art, and interiors that were created as a result of the influential early 20th-century design and architecture movement named after the German school founded by architect Walter Gropius. Bauhaus embodied a form-follows-function, less-is-more approach that still resonates today.

His first project was a modern Mahatma Gandhi memorial, which impressed the prime minister and encouraged him to design government buildings, public spaces, and its national zoo. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is remembered most for his work as an architect, but his work as a furniture designer is also hugely influential. The Bauhaus movement spread when the school was shut down in 1933 by the Nazis, and many of the style’s practitioners fled Germany ahead of World War II.

Sport and physical activity were essential to the interdisciplinary Bauhaus movement that developed revolutionary ideas and continues to shape our environments today. Weimar was in the German state of Thuringia, and the Bauhaus school received state support from the Social Democrat-controlled Thuringian state government. The school in Weimar experienced political pressure from conservative circles in Thuringian politics, increasingly so after 1923 as political tension rose. One condition placed on the Bauhaus in this new political environment was the exhibition of work undertaken at the school. This condition was met in 1923 with the Bauhaus' exhibition of the experimental Haus am Horn.[22] The Ministry of Education placed the staff on six-month contracts and cut the school's funding in half. The Bauhaus issued a press release on 26 December 1924, setting the closure of the school for the end of March 1925.[23][24] At this point it had already been looking for alternative sources of funding.

Bauhaus structures may also be vulnerable to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, or fires, that can cause irreversible harm or destruction. Lastly, the Bauhaus structures are sometimes contested or neglected by the public or the authorities, who may not appreciate their historical and cultural value or have different priorities or preferences for using the land or the resources. The Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, which houses a collection of documents and objects related to the Bauhaus movement, has been closed since 2018 due to a lack of funding and support for its expansion and renovation. Some Bauhaus structures have been demolished or altered beyond recognition, such as the ADGB Trade Union School in Bernau, partly destroyed during World War II and later converted into a hospital.

In an interview with Breuer on Knoll’s website, the designer explains that the enduring design of the bicycle is what inspired the chair. When a young architect explained how the tubular steel was bent, Breuer was fixated on the idea. The local government in Dessau, among the first municipalities in Germany to be won by the National Socialists in 1931, had voted to close the Bauhaus, which was a state-funded school, in 1932. Mies reopened it as a private institution in Berlin later that year, but it only lasted one semester. The Nazis in Dessau sought, according to one fascist editorial, nothing less than “the disappearance from German soil of one of the most prominent places of Jewish-Marxist ‘art’ manifestation,” and they were not going to relent.

With Hitler now chancellor of Germany, the Dessau public prosecutor called for a search of the school’s new Berlin headquarters. The police found materials that were deemed to be subversive, making it subject to closure. Three months of fruitless attempts by Mies and others to forestall this inevitable conclusion followed; they tried various ways to accommodate themselves to the Nazis and preserve the Bauhaus as a private art school. But in the end, the Dessau authorities used a new Nazi law to declare that “support for and action on behalf of the Bauhaus, which presented itself as a Bolshevist cell,” amounted to a political crime.

Bauhaus architects supported democracy, equality, and social justice and sought to create buildings that would serve the people’s and the community’s needs. They designed public housing, schools, factories, and offices that were affordable, accessible, and adaptable. It also considered the environmental and psychological aspects of architecture, such as natural light, ventilation, and color, to create healthy and comfortable spaces for living and working. Lastly, Bauhaus architecture was a global and influential movement that spread its ideas and practices to other countries and regions.

In July 1933, Mies and other Bauhaus masters gathered together at the studio of the interior designer Lilly Reich in Berlin. Mies discussed the financial and political situation of the school and proposed that it should be closed. One notable example is Steve Jobs, who often credited the influence of Bauhaus simplicity on the look of Apple products. Established six months after the end of the war, in 1919, Bauhaus sought to create a radical new form of design and architecture to help rebuild post-World War I society. Gropius wrote in the Bauhaus school’s founding manifesto that “the ultimate, if distant, aim of the Bauhaus is the unified work of art.” He aspired to the German concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, or the “total work of art” that synthesizes many art forms into one.

Old maps of Los Angeles

house of wax 1953

Los Angeles gold-mining millionaire Lewis L. Bradbury commissions a five-story office building in Downtown LA. Renowned for its stunning skylit atrium and ornate ironwork, the Bradbury Building has appeared in numerous movies, most famously Blade Runner in 1982. The population was a cosmopolitan mixture of Caucasians, Protestants, Blacks (then the second largest group community after Baltimore), Jews, Armenians, Italians, and Russians, and small numbers of Chinese and Japanese. The quintessential Price offering, House of Wax deserves the utmost praise for its ghoulish make-up effects, atmospheric tension, and strong performances from a talented cast (including a young Charles Bronson in the role of Igor, mute assistant to Professor Jarrod).

Opening of the Japanese-American National Museum in Little Tokyo, the only museum in the United States telling the story of Japanese Americans. Frank Lloyd Wright, who has been labeled by the American Institute of Architects as "the greatest American architect of all time," designs the Hollyhock House for heiress Aline Barnsdall on a hill in East Hollywood in what is now Barnsdall Art Park. The home, featuring Mayan and Spanish Revival architecture, would later be named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019, becoming the first place to earn such a designation in Los Angeles.

House of Wax is a 1953 American period mystery-horror film directed by Andre de Toth and released by Warner Bros. A remake of the studio's own 1933 film, Mystery of the Wax Museum, it stars Vincent Price as a disfigured sculptor who repopulates his destroyed wax museum by murdering people and using their wax-coated corpses as displays. The film premiered in New York on April 10, 1953 and had a general release on April 25, making it the first 3D film with stereophonic sound to be presented in a regular theater and the first color 3D feature film from a major American studio. Man in the Dark, released by Columbia Pictures, was the first major-studio black-and-white 3D feature and premiered two days before House of Wax.

To Jarrod's horror, Burke then starts a fire, which spreads rapidly, and the duo fight while Jarrod's work is destroyed. House of Wax is a 1953 American color 3-D horror thriller film, about a disfigured sculptor who repopulates his destroyed wax museum by murdering people and using their wax-coated corpses as displays. Directed by Andre DeToth and starring Vincent Price, it is a remake of Warner Bros.’ Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933). Price portrayed Prof. Henry Jarrod, an ingenious sculptor of wax statues and part owner of a wax museum that is burned down by his business partner in an attempt to collect insurance money.

Detailed Analysis of Classic Sci-fi Movies and TV Shows

Warner Bros.' first 3-D movie, filmed by director Andre De Toth -- who was blind in one eye and hence could not see the effect. Turner Classic Movies will honor the passing of Hollywood action star Charles Bronson on Saturday, Sept. 13, with a four-film tribute. A disfigured man in a cloak strangles him and stages the murder as an act of suicide, and a few weeks later the same man murders Burke's fiancée, Cathy Gray. After a brief chase with him, Sue makes it to safety at the home of her friend, Scott Andrews. Brandi Chastain celebrating her winning penalty kick has since become an iconic image of women’s athletics in the U.S. Twenty years to the day, Chastain was immortalized with a bronze statue that was unveiled outside Rose Bowl Stadium on July 10, 2019.

Later, at the station, Scott and Sue thank Brennan for his help and Sue expresses an additional thanks for the use of his coat. In New York City during the early 1900s, Professor Henry Jarrod is a talented sculptor who runs a wax museum that features wax figures of historical figures that have met grisly demises. However, his business partner, Matthew Burke, is frustrated over Jarrod refusing to make more sensational exhibits, like those that draw crowds to their competitors, and wants to end their partnership. Wealthy art critic Sidney Wallace arrives to see the museum and indicates he may be interested in buying Burke out when he gets back from Egypt in three months. Growing impatient, Burke suggests burning down the museum to collect its twenty-five thousand dollar insurance money.

When Leon informs them that Jarrod wants Sue as his Marie Antoinette, the police race to the museum. Scott, who is waiting outside the museum for Sue, goes in and is confronted by Igor, who wants to behead him with the guillotine. Inside they find that Jarrod is preparing to dip the drugged and naked Sue into a vat of wax. Just before her body is lowered into the cauldron, Brennan turns off the control switch and covers Sue with his jacket.

Wallace receives a letter that indicates Jarrod had miraculously survived the fire, though he is now bound to a wheelchair and his hands are crippled, leaving him unable to sculpt. Jarrod gives Wallace a proposition to invest in his new wax museum, which will feature statues made by his assistants, deafmute Igor and alcoholic Leon Averill. He hopes to recreate his favorite pieces from his old museum, but will also concede to popular taste by including a chamber of horrors showcasing historical acts of violence, including the apparent suicide of Burke. House of Wax proved a breakthrough for Price, who would later be credited with reestablishing the popularity of the horror genre. The film was a major box-office success, and it helped spark a wave of 3-D films in the 1950s. Ironically, the director Andre de Toth was blind in one eye and unable to discern the 3-D visual effects.

The scene where 'Picerni, Paul' is rescued from the guillotine by Frank Lovejoy seconds before the blade came down was filmed in one take, using a real guillotine blade. Picerni and director Andre De Toth got into a heated argument when Picerni, on advice from the film's stuntmen, refused to do the scene as too dangerous (a prop man was to hold up the blade off camera and tell the actors when he dropped it so they could yank Picerni away). De Toth threw him off the picture, but several days later, on orders from studio head Jack Warner, De Toth recalled him, and had the prop department modify the guillotine to make it less dangerous.

Jarrod’s assistant Igor was played by a young Charles Bronson, billed as Charles Buchinsky. Featuring some superior storytelling by director Andre De Toth, an amazing musical score from David Buttolph and a near-perfect cast, House of Wax holds up really well today. For a 1953 feature, it boasts some pretty creepy subject matter, what with bodies covered in wax, and some pretty graphic melting sequences. The film itself is a remake of the 1933 Lionel Atwill-Fay Wray thriller Mystery of the Wax Museum but achieves so much more than its predecessor on the strengths of its sharp color, excellent performances, and yes, the 3-D effects. However, Jerrod isn’t quite dead, he opens a new museum with a new partner Wallace (Paul Cavanaugh; Jungle Jim), and changes his tune on the paying public’s demands, but not after first dispatching those who wronged him. The same night, Sue arrives at the museum after hours to meet with Scott, but Jarrod had sent him on an errand when he heard she was coming.
